Acre-born artist and actress Raida Adon, whose compelling video installation Strangeness (2018) is on show at the Museum, draws on deeply personal materials – such as dreams and fantasy – to create works that explore shared human experiences, addressing issues of identity, universality, and the longing for a home. Her recent drawings, made in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, are a kind of diary expressing a myriad of conflicting feelings born out of a surreal reality that includes isolation, personal and political unrest, and a lot of time to withdraw into the self and create.
