In 2017, the Israel Museum held an unforgettable exhibition of works by the renowned Chinese-born artist Ai Weiwei. One of the works was a series of provocative photographs called “Study of Perspective.” The set contains 8 postcards in which Ai “gives the finger” to a variety of famous sites. Like other critical works by this activist artist, the series references social, political, and internal artistic contexts, though it also conveys a raw power independent of any context.
