Sculptures created by the Indian-born British artist Anish Kapoor can be found in many places throughout the world. Turning the World Upside Down arrived at the Israel Museum in 2010, immediately taking a central position atop the long promenade leading visitors to the Museum. Its lustrous stainless-steel exterior, in which Jerusalem is reflected upside down, attracts visitors of all ages.
The sculpture was gifted to the Museum by Richard Goldman, San Francisco; Charles Bronfman, New York; and Lily Safra, Monaco, with additional support from the Barbara and Eugene Schwartz Contemporary Art Acquisition Endowment Fund.
