Once upon a time, when the Egyptians ruled Canaan over 3,000 years ago, there was a great palace surrounded by houses and streets not far from the estuary of HaBesor Stream. As is often the case, this lively, bustling settlement eventually became a fascinating archeological site; many tools and gold and silver jewelry were found here, including this goddess pendant. The pendant is from the collection of the Israel Antiquities Authority. It is in the permanent exhibition at the Rockefeller Archaeological Museum, which is part of the Israel Museum.
