Adorned with a distinctive geometric pattern, this charming horse statuette bears signs of having once had a rider on its back, which probably fell off already in antiquity. Figurines of this type were found along the Mediterranean coast, but the level of artistry of this particular item indicates that it was probably made in Cyprus. While it may have been brought here by an antiquities dealer in our time, it could also have been exported as early as the First Temple Period, when commercial relations between Israel and Cyprus flourished.
