Chosen from the Museum’s rich photography collection, the seventy images presented in this exhibition catalogue were created in the early 20th century – but they reflect aesthetic decisions and visual interests that are still with us today, steering the way we see the world long after having crossed the threshold of the digital age. The selection of images includes works by European and North American camera artists such as Man Ray, Dora Maar, László Moholy-Nagy, and André Kertész. Featuring an article by Photography Curator Noam Gal and brief texts accompanying reproductions of the individual works, the book offers ways of looking at photographs, inviting us to give ourselves up to these great images and enjoy the enduring genius of photography’s avant-garde practitioners.
