Willem Sandberg, who served as director of Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum and artistic consultant for the Israel Museum in its early days, designed the Museum’s logo. He used spare, clean lines to express each of the Museum’s four elements (clockwise from top right): the Art Garden; the Shrine of the Book; archeology; and art, including Jewish art.
Here, the logo is linked to the love of Jerusalem, suggesting the “I ❤ Jerusalem” sign.
