With its intense colors and geometric motifs, this tile – both decorative object and useful trivet or coaster – is based on the Armenian-style ceramics that graced the facade of the former British and Foreign Bible Society building in Jerusalem’s Safra Square. Dating from the 1920s, the building is now part of the Jerusalem Municipality complex.

A photograph of the original tile featured in the Israel Museum exhibition Jerusalem in Detail, which presented research by the prominent architect and Jerusalem chronicler David Kroyanker.
