One of the most beloved and well-known sculptures in the Israel Museum Art Garden is the sculpture of American artist Robert Indiana’s AHAVA (Love).

Indiana created the sculpture especially for the Israel Museum, as a Hebrew version of his famous word-sculpture LOVE.

As the Hebrew אהבה, like LOVE, contains four letters, here, too, Indiana divided the word in two, placing half of the word above the other half. In English, the “O” is tilted to the right; in Hebrew, the two hehs (ה) are placed one on top of the other in a playful interaction.

And what gift could better express our feelings towards someone we LOVE (including ourselves) than this beautiful necklace inspired by Indiana’s timeless sculpture?

Robert Indiana’s work is a gift of Beverly and Dr. Raymond Sackler, Connecticut, to American Friends of the Israel Museum, to the people of Israel in the spirit of international brotherhood.
